Missed call from Lola Nena

Link sent to your phone

Four small annoyances.
Gone.

Your phone rings in your bag. Again.

See who's calling. Answer from your desk.

The caller's name pops up on your PC within a blink. Answer, decline or hang up without digging for the phone.

Thumb-typing a long reply while your keyboard sits right there.

Text from a real keyboard.

Your SMS conversations on the PC, with names, pictures and group chats. Reply from the window or straight from the notification.

Emailing photos to yourself. Hunting for the cable.

Your gallery, one click from Pictures.

Browse recent photos and albums from the PC and save them in full quality. Or take a new one and it lands on the PC.

Copying a booking code from phone to laptop, one digit at a time.

Copy on one, paste on the other.

Text and images you copy on the PC appear on the phone. From the phone it's one tap: "Send to PC".

One link. Yours.

Your phone and PC talk to each other directly. No Palwyn server, no account, no copy of your messages sitting in someone's cloud.

Then it gets fun.

Your phone is the touchpad.

Move the pointer, click, scroll and type on the PC from the couch. Flip to Slides and the volume keys change slides.

Your phone's screen, in a window.

See it live on the PC. Allow control and your mouse taps, swipes and types on the phone.

Drop files either way.

Drag onto the PC window or share from any phone app. Whole folders too.

Lost it in the couch?

Ring it at full volume, even on silent.

Every notification, on the big screen.

Read, reply and dismiss phone notifications on Windows. Dismiss once, it's gone on both.

Music, volume and lock, both ways.

Control the phone's music from the tray. Control the PC's music, volume and lock screen from the phone.

  • Call history
  • Contacts, add and edit
  • Search calls and messages
  • Group texts and MMS
  • Photo albums
  • Take a photo from the PC
  • PC notifications on your phone
  • Run PC commands from your phone
  • Pause music when the phone rings
  • Keep the PC awake while connected
  • Several phones paired
  • Connect over Tailscale or ZeroTier
  • Dark and light themes

What it won't do. Honestly.

Android's rules

Phone to PC clipboard takes a tap. Android stops apps reading the clipboard in the background. PC to phone is automatic.

RCS chats stay on the phone. Apps can't read them. You can still reply to their notifications from the PC.

No iPhone. iOS blocks texts, calls and other apps' notifications.

Windows' rules

Call audio stays on your phone. Windows keeps Bluetooth call audio for its own apps, so you answer on the PC and talk on the phone.

One phone connected at a time. Pair as many as you like and switch in Settings.

Pair on the same network. After that, a VPN address works from anywhere.

Set up in about a minute.

  1. Install on the PC

It lives in the tray, out of your way.

  2. Scan with the phone

Open the app, scan the QR code on the PC.

  3. Done

It reconnects on its own whenever both are on.

Questions

Is Palwyn free?

Yes. It's free and open source under the GPL-3.0 licence. No paid plans, no ads, no account.

Does it send my data to the cloud?

No. The phone and PC talk directly over your own network with encrypted, pinned TLS 1.3. There is no Palwyn server.

Which phones and PCs does it work with?

Android 10 or newer, and Windows 10 (version 2004) or newer. iPhone isn't supported.

Can I talk on calls through my PC?

No. You see who's calling and answer, decline or end calls from the PC, but the audio stays on the phone. Windows keeps Bluetooth call audio for its own apps.

Is it an alternative to Phone Link?

Yes, for Android phones. It covers calls, messages, notifications, photos and files, and adds a touchpad remote, your phone's screen on the PC and file transfer both ways, all without an account.

Does it work away from home?

Pairing needs both on the same network. After that, give the PC your phone's VPN address (Tailscale, ZeroTier) and it connects there.
